The father of Mr. Beowulf von Prince, Tom Adalbert von Prince, filed a petition with the UN for damages through the Danzig lawyer Dr. Dr. Langguth. For some time now, the files have been available online.

Ausschlagungsurkunde der Regierung von Unterfranken

Im Jahr 1955 schlug Herr Tom Adalbert von Prince nach dem Gesetz zur Ausschlagung der Reichs- bzw. Staatsangehörigkeit vom 22.2.1955 die Zwangseindeutschung aus und erhielt darüber eine Urkunde. In dieser steht, dass er trotz der Ausschlagung der deutschen Staatsangehörigkeit also trotz seiner Danziger Staatsangehörigkeit Deutscher im Sinne des Artikel 116 Grundgesetz bleibt.

Deed of Renouncement of the government of Lower Bavaria/FRG

In 1955, Mr. Tom Adalbert von Prince refused to accept forced Germanization under the Lawof Renouncement of the German Reich Nationality of Febr. 22, 1955 and received a certificate to that effect. In this document it is stated that he remains a German national in the meaning of Article 116 of the German Basic Law despite his Danzig nationality.

Law of Renouncement of the forced German Reich Nationality of Febr. 22, 1955

The legal basis for this Renouncement is the Law of Febr. 22, 1955. This is an international treaty, as it guarantees the fulfilment of the Versailles Treaty Art. 100 - 108 by the Federal Republic of Germany.

Mit dem Versailler Vertrag wurde der Freistaat Freie Stadt Danzig gegründet und damit die Staatsangehörigkeit des Freistaates Freie Stadt Danzig. In diesen Artikeln wurde festgelegt, dass die Danziger Recht auf deutsches Recht zum Stand von 1919 haben. Die Verfassung wurde unter den Schutz der Völkerbundstaaten gestellt.

Foundation of the Freestate of Danzig with the Versailles Treaty, Articles 100-108

With the Treaty of Versailles the Free City of Danzig was founded and with it the nationality of the Free City of Danzig. In these articles it was stipulated that the nationals of Danzig were entitled to German law as it was in 1919. The Constitution was placed under the protection of the League of Nations.

Why not? ----Because even the people of Danzig who have made use of the renouncement have a right to a German passport and identity card, because they are Germans in the meaning of the Basic Law Article 116.

Schadensanmeldung von kriegsbedingten Verlusten

Nur als Danziger Staatsangehöriger konnte Tom Adalbert von Prince bei der UN im Jahre 1955 Schadensersatz geltend machen und erhielt von den Briten eine Teilentschädigung für die Vorkriegsverluste. Der Rest steht als Reparationsleistungen noch aus.

Notification of war-related losses

Only as a national of Danzig could Tom Adalbert von Prince claim damages from the UN in 1955 and received partial compensation from the British for pre-war losses. The rest is still outstanding as reparations.
